Blood test tube shortage

You may have seen via the national press that there is an ongoing shortage of blood test tubes in the UK. BD, which makes the vials for the NHS across the UK, has warned of serious supply chain issues due to the pandemic and transportation issues. This is affecting GP and hospital service.

You can still have a blood test if you have a medically urgent health problem. But you may be asked to wait for your test, or rebook one at a later date, if your doctor says it’s safe to do so.

Our stock is becoming very low and we are reviewing all booked appointments for blood tests in order to prioritise those that are urgent and can not wait.Non-urgent blood tests will unfortunately need to be postponed.

We cannot give an exact date for when routine blood tests can be rebooked at this time.
